The novel coronavirus is a new virus causing a pandemic. The present pandemic was first identified in 2019 in China and now it has spread to more than 118 countries across the globe. The pandemic brings in an increasing need for paramedical health professionals in providing care and generating awareness regarding this new virus.
A paramedical HealthCare professional is directly involved in control and prevention of such public health emergencies, a medical laboratory technician would be involved in sample collection of a suspected individual, a radiology technician would be involved in taking an X-ray or ECG in case it is required by the patient. If the patient requires hospitalization an Operation theatre technician would be involved in taking care of the patient in the intensive care unit. As it is known that coronavirus in serious cases causes kidney failure which will involve a dialysis technician for the care of the patient. Also, the medical record technologist will be involved in maintaining the record of such patients.
Thus, here we would like to reiterate that the role of a paramedic is of utmost importance in such cases in taking care and treatment of patients affected with coronavirus.
Apart, from this, a paramedic is also involved in training and awareness generation regarding key preventive aspects like hand hygiene, use of mask and personal protective equipment.
