NEET i.e. the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test has become compulsory for Indian students to pursue medical courses in India and abroad. In case they do not clear the NEET exam there are still many choices for students to pursue. Here is a list of allied health and paramedical courses that one can take on:
- Medical Lab Technician: This course is also known as MLT and is one of the most sought for course in the Paramedical field. The responsibility of a medical lab technician is to collect store and transport samples for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes to a diagnostic laboratory. Job prospects are very good in this field and for a student who aspires to be in the medical field and could not clear the NEET exam this is a very good course to opt for.
- Physiotherapy: this is a branch of rehabilitation therapy which has a lot of scope these days. Students with Physics, Chemistry, Biology in class 12th can pursue this course. Candidates with a degree in physiotherapy have excellent career prospects as a neuro physiotherapist, or sports physiotherapist or he/she can practice on their own as a physiotherapist.
- Radiology technician: This is another course in paramedical health sciences which is picked up by most of the students. This course covers a scope of skilling a student in various aspects of radiology I.e. X-Ray, ECG, CT scan and MRI techniques.
- Operation Theatre Technician: operation theatre technician should be a course of preference for students who are ready to face challenges in their jobs. The course in much demand due to excessive need and reduced supply of qualified skilled OT technician s in the hospitals. Pursuing this course enables a student to assist the surgeon as well as the anesthesiologist in the operation theatre. The OT technician is responsible for sterilization of OT and the instruments used apart from this the technician is also responsible to manage the anesthesia machine and during surgery. It is a good professional course that any science student wanting to pursue medical course can opt for.
- Dialysis Technician: it is observed that the incidence of renal /kidney diseases is increasing day by day. All patients suffering from kidney diseases need dialysis support during their course of treatment. Operation of a dialysis machine on a patient s always done by a dialysis technician and as per the need the supply chain of qualified certified and skilled technicians is very very less. So, any student pursuing this course would have very bright future prospects.
- Ophthalmology and optometry technician: eye issues have always been a concern in all age groups and these days with increased usage of mobile and computers eye problems have increased among all age groups and so is the demand of ophthalmology and optometry technician. Thus students who have unfortunately not cleared there NEET examination can also pursue this course in the field of paramedical sciences as the course offers excellent job opportunities in companies like titan eye , lenskart etc. …
